It's your boy Joshua Mobley aka Salesforce Josh and I am excited to share with you my journey to becoming a Certified Marketing Cloud Email Marketing Specialist.
So, picture this - it's January 12, 2023, and I'm thinking about my next move in my Salesforce career.
As someone who's always been drawn to the platform, I've been spending countless hours on Trailhead, YouTube, and Google searching for ways to grow my skills.
And then, I stumbled upon Talent Stacker, which opened my eyes to all the possibilities that exist in the Salesforce ecosystem.
Fast forward a bit, back to January of 2023, and I've already achieved the feat of passing my Salesforce Admin Certification.
But after speaking with other people in the ecosystem, I realized that maybe there's something else I'm even more passionate about.
That's when I came across MinuteAdmin, who kept popping up on my TikTok feed, talking about Salesforce Marketing Cloud.
I'm not gonna lie, I was hesitant at first because I thought:
"I already passed my Salesforce Administrator certification. Why should I need to get ANOTHER certification?"
It wasn't until I had two very important conversations that I finally decided to take the leap.
The first conversation was with my dear friend Alex, who encouraged me not to settle and to pursue what I'm passionate about.
The second conversation was with Kaelan Moss, aka MinuteAdmin himself, who told me straight up that I would KILL IT in Marketing Cloud and that I should make the pivot.
And that was the moment I got serious about my Marketing Cloud journey.
Now, let's get to the juicy part - how I passed the Email Marketing Specialist exam.
It took me three weeks from the time I made the decision to the actual day of the exam.
First things first, I took advantage of the STUDY GUIDE created by MinuteAdmin, which gave me all the details I needed.
I mean, it included the exam outline, direct links to Salesforce Help articles, and everything in between.
And yes, you absolutely need to read those articles, even if it's not the most exciting thing to do. Trust me, it'll pay off later.
P.S. Yes, the topic of this blog post centers around the Email Marketing Cloud Specialist Exam.
HOWEVER, you will certainly see references to the Marketing Cloud Admin study guide, Trailmixes, and information in relation to that.
Understand that even though you may be going for the email marketing specialist exam, it's still important to get a complete aerial view of what Marketing Cloud is all about.
Sure, there are certain pieces of information you digest that will NOT be on the Email Marketing Cloud Specialist Certification exam, but you will see this information anyhow in your Marketing Cloud career.
Plus... wouldn't you rather be over prepared, then underprepared?
Exactly...

The first step was completing the Custom Marketing Cloud Administrator Trailmix, which I finished on January 20th.
The MC Admin Trailmix was informative and time-consuming in the best way possible.
Next up, I took advantage of the Marketing Cloud Career Development Course hosted by MinuteAdmin.
It's super informative and insightful, with videos, quizzes, and six mock exams to get you mentally prepared.
I was so focused on my goal and kept my pace aggressive, but I'm not necessarily saying you should do the same.
Work at your own pace and remember, it's not a race.
Once I completed everything in the Marketing Cloud Email Specialist course created by MinuteAdmin and felt confident enough, I scheduled my Marketing Cloud Email Marketing Specialist exam for February 5th.
On the day of the exam, I did my pre-ritual, which involved taking a hot shower, blasting some Drake and Lizzo to pump me up and get motivated.
The last thing I wanted was to feel nervous before the test.
I always want to go in there feeling my BEST. And you know what? It paid off because I got that sweet notification that we all love - PASS!!!
I couldn't have done it without MinuteAdmin and the course that was laid before my feet.
I'm so appreciative and I just want to let everyone know that you can do it too. It's not impossible.
