Marketing Cloud professionals are in HUGE demand at companies.
Most businesses don't have anyone at the company who knows how to use the system.
They rely on people like you and me to come in and make a difference.
The only problem is that it can be tough to land a job at one of these companies.
Most people struggle to pass Marketing Cloud interviews.
Which makes it hard to land one of the most secure, high-paying jobs in the tech world.
It's hard to:
Take care of your family
Pay bills
and live above the paycheck-to-paycheck lifestyle
If you're struggling to land a good Marketing Cloud job.
Luckily, there's a process you can follow that will help you get a Marketing Cloud job.
It's a 4 step process that myself and others use to land Marketing Cloud jobs.
Here are the steps:
Play the Marketing Cloud Game Daily.
Interview Well
Build Community
Create Content / Add Value
Plus a BONUS step if you stick all the way to the end.
With that 4 step process in mind, let's get started.
Step 1: Play the Marketing Cloud Game Daily.
You have to practice marketing cloud daily.
The more experience you have, the more opportunities you'll get.
When people see you as the expert, they'll trust you to come into their business and solve their problems.
Step 2: Interview Well
The interview is your opportunity to prove yourself.
If you have a great interview, that could mean a new salary and benefits for you.
Some people do poorly in interviews and tell on themselves.
They talk about their shortcomings and beat themselves up.
Don't do that.
Talk about your strengths and what you're excited about.
Get the hiring manager excited about working with you.
Don't make them feel worse than before they got on the call with you.
Create excitement and give them hope.
It's like a date.
They should want to get to know you more.
Step 3: Build Community
Connect with people in your industry.
People who are also interested in marketing cloud.
This includes:
Experts and other people looking for Marketing Cloud jobs.
When someone in the community talks about marketing cloud, leave a comment.
Be natural.
When someone posts - Pretend like they sent you a text message.
Respond like you would to a friend.
Don't be fake.
People can spot the fakery.
Leave your two cents in the comment section.
That's all social media is.
Be social.
It'll take you a long way.
Step 4: Create Content / Add Value
When you learn something, teach it to other people.
If you struggle to show your Marketing Cloud expertise... Share what you learn on LinkedIn.
It's the easiest way to show that you know Marketing Cloud.
You won't do interviews every day.
But you can share on social media every day.
You never know who's looking at your post online.
It could be a hiring manager who stumbles on your LinkedIn profile.
The cool thing about LinkedIn is this:
When someone likes or comments on your post, LinkedIn shows your post to the people who follow them.
Which means:
What you write can show up in front of a hiring manager who's looking for someone like you.
If you share your knowledge online, you increase your luck surface area.
The more you post, the more opportunities you'll have.
I don't even apply for jobs at this point.
There's no reason to if you're providing value on LinkedIn.
The right people will find you.
The right opportunities will come your way.
It's like dating.
If you walk up to the person across the room and ask for their phone number, you MIGHT get it.
But the likelihood is low.
You don't know if they're dating or are married to someone.
If you get rejected, it's not that you can't find anybody.
It just means that things didn't work with that specific person.
That's how people are when it comes to applying for jobs.
You need to have people coming up to YOU so you have options.
People come to YOU when you provide value on LinkedIn every day.
You'll get people coming to YOU, and you'll have more options.
Recruiters will reach out to YOU.
You'll get interviews, and you won't have to go searching for them.
The demand for marketing cloud is HUGE.
You'll get your chance if you can prove that you know your stuff.
BONUS - Get Certified in Marketing Cloud.
A certification can help you land a job.
Just remember this:
A certification verifies that you know what you're talking about.
A cert shows that you understand the system (up to a point).
It's like a college degree.
It shows that you did your homework.
Hiring managers don't need to question if you know the basics.
That's what a cert does for you.
It's your foot in the door.
It's not the end all be all.
But it does help.
If you're asking:
"Should I get a cert or apply for jobs"
My answer is this:
"Do both."
Provide value on LinkedIn while you're studying for your cert.
When you learn new while studying for your cert, share what you learn on LinkedIn.
That increases your chances of getting hired by the time you pass your certification.
Heck...
You could even land a job BEFORE you pass your cert.
A cert is a test of your knowledge.
But so is an interview.
Hiring managers want to be confident that you know Marketing Cloud.
If you know Marketing Cloud, you will do well in interviews and on the test.
It's like playing a video game.
If you're good at the video game, you can play the game and win.
Or you can talk about the video game with other people (and prove that you know what you're talking about).
It's the same concept with Marketing Cloud.
If you know it, you will pass the cert (and you will be able to talk about it in an interview).
Conclusion:
If you want to interview for Marketing Cloud jobs (with success), you need a simple plan.
That simple plan is:
Play the Marketing Cloud Game Daily.
Interview Well
Build Community
Create Content / Add Value
Bonus - Get Certified in Marketing Cloud.
