RE: You reap what you sow in life.
Most people want the reward without putting in the work.
They work a few weeks and think they deserve the results of someone who's been working for YEARS at the same thing.
There's a story from We Who Wrestle With God by Jordan Peterson.
In the story, Korah challenges Moses.
Shortly after challenging Moses, Korah and his family fall into the earth.
It's a short way of saying that Korah, his allies, and their entire family die.
The moral of Jordan Peterson's story was this...
The people who didn't work as hard as Moses were trying to take his reward.
They weren't worthy of overthrowing him.
Moses put in that work.
He deserved his position as the leader of the Israelite people.
He went through the grueling process of overcoming the pharaoh.
He was the qualified leader.
Korah and his crew were jealous.
In their jealousy, they decided that they were worthy of the glory.
But they didn't do the work that Moses did.
And yet here they were... trying to take his position.
There will be people who work hard to achieve great things.
And there are people who don't put in the hard work.
But they want the reward of someone who does work hard.
But the world doesn't work that way.
You have to work hard if you want the reward that comes with the work.
I was reading another book called Poor Charlie's Almanack.
It's a compilation of Charlie Munger's greatest speeches.
In one speech, Charlie says:
You get exactly what you deserve in this life.
Another way to say that is:
If you put in the work, you will get the results of your work.
King Solomon says it another way in Proverbs 14:23.
All hard work brings a profit, but mere talk leads only to poverty.
Why did I give you three examples from three seemingly un-related books?
If you want to great results in life, then you need to put in the work required to get those results.
There's no shortcut to excellence.
No fast path to greatness.
You have to go through the gauntlet every single day.
You have to experience pain if you want to achieve glory.
The champion has battle scars that prove him or her worthy of the crown.
Even Jesus had to endure the crucifixion and the cross to achieve eternal glory.
The road to greatness requires extreme sacrifice.
What are you willing to sacrifice to achieve greatness in your life?
Are you willing to endure pain to get the results you want?
Have you been expecting results for work you didn't put in?
If you want something great to happen, but aren't working to achieve what you want, how do you get back on track?
Here are 3 ways to get on track and achieve great results in life (based on my experience).
Nobody will save you if you won't save yourself.
You must own every process related to your work.
If there are people at your company who don't work as hard as you, then how can you encourage them to do their part?
How can you help them get their job done?
What can you say to keep them going?
Just because something isn't your job doesn't mean you aren't accountable.
Just because your work is done doesn't mean you coast.
You still have to put in the work to see things through.
Working for a day, week, or even a year doesn't mean you will see great results.
Everything is a process, and that process usually takes a long time.
You aren't done just cause you worked hard for a few weeks.
You have to work hard for years to see the fruits of your labor
Thats the nature of the game.
Greatness comes after sustained effort over a long period of time.
No matter what you accomplish, don't lord it over people's heads.
Stay humble.
Nobody likes a braggard who talks about how great they are all the time
Let other people say how great your work is.
Put your head down and don't show anyone how hard you worked.
Let your results speak for themselves and let others speak for you
All you have at the end of the day is your word and your work ethic
You have to stay humble and keep working no matter how much you've already done.
There's a lot more work to do anyways.
Just because you did some great stuff in the past doesn't guarantee success in the future.
Keep going and remain humble through the whole process.
You get exactly what you deserve in this life.
If you put in the work to acheive greatness, you will reap the benefits of your hard work.
If you sit around and talk about what you want without ever putting in the work, you will be in the same place you're at today.
The choice is yours.
Choose greatness my friend.
