What if you could work 4 hours per week and still make more money?
It's possible if you have a plan on how to get there.
Anything is possible with a plan.
And that's what we'll talk about in today's letter.
I’m planning the direction of MinuteAdmin right now.
Originally, the plan for MinuteAdmin was to live the 4 hour workweek.
As time has gone on, I've stretched myself thin at times.
Sometimes I feel burnt out.
Sometimes I feel excited.
Other times, I have no idea what I’m doing.
But every time - I get a hunch to plan things out.
I know without a plan, I’m doomed no matter what.
If I'm not actively planning for success, I’ll keep going after every opportunity that comes up.
But like Alex Hormozi says:
“The higher up you go, the hotter the woman in the red dress gets.”
Translation:
“The more successful you become, the more opportunities you get.”
And the opportunities become worth more money.
But that doesn’t mean anything if its not the RIGHT opportunity.
You can have a $200,000 opportunity.
But it could be against everything you stand for.
It could take you 3 years off of your life purpose.
That’s why you have to get clear about what your plan is.
And that starts by knowing what sort of life you want to live
You have to know who you want to be
What you want to be known for
And what impact you want to make
The rest will follow.
The right people will come along and support you.
The wrong people will leave you.
And you’ll be on the right path towards your life’s purpose.
But there’s always something that stops us from actually following through.
It could be any one of these thoughts below thats holding you back...
There’s so many opportunities - I don’t know which one to choose.
I’ve never planned before
I’ve never had someone teach me how to plan
There’s not an ideal planner
I'm not good at planning
Planning is boring
Planning takes too long
I don't know if I’ll achieve my plan even if I write it out
Just like anything in life, theres always objections like these.
But the question is…
What are you going to do to overcome those obstacles in your mind?
What’s the benefit of overcoming those objections?
Here’s a few benefits of Planning I could think of as I was writing this to you:
Clear focus each day
getting things done early in the morning and feeling satisfied
making progress each day
knowing what to say yes to
knowing what to say no to
being clear when new opportunities come up
being able to point people in the right direction when they’re working with me
being able to stay on track no matter what day it is
having clarity of thought
being at peace
being able to travel and not worry about deadlines
hitting deadlines way before things are due
not committing to things that dont move the needle
not overstretching myself too thin
having bandwidth to focus and crush the right things
building systems for myself so i have even more bandwidth
making more money
making more impact in other people’s lives
making a difference in the world
I hit on this topic in last week’s letter to you.
But it’s still something i’m struggling with and learning.
I’m realizing more and more that:
Planning your life is a journey
There is no destination
For as long as we live, we’re always in this cycle:
Working on our plan
Tweaking our plan (Making adjustments)
Making improvements
It’s a never ending cycle.
Which is what makes it so frustrating.
But it's what also makes it so rewarding.
The future belongs to the planners
If you don’t plan, the wind will blow you in every direction imaginable.
And you’ll be left wondering where the heck your entire life went.
It’s like the famous saying goes:
If you fail to plan, then you’re planning to fail
I truly believe that there’s nothing more important than having a plan for yourself.
It's the only way you're going to fulfill your life purpose.
One more quote I’ll leave you with is from Proverbs chapter 16 verse 9
“The mind of a person plans his way, But the LORD directs his steps.”
So I wrote a formula that I’m going to work on.
I hope this formula helps you plan for the things you want in your life.
The 5 Step Formula for Planning Your Life
Step 1 - Write your plan in a journal
I use the Monk Manual.
It has to be written down on paper.
Step 2 - Break down your monthly goals into digestable weeks
It has to be broken down into something digestable.
This gets your brain going on what needs to be done week by week.
Step 3 - Focus on your top 3 priorities each day to get the job done.
Ideally, each day that you knock out your top 3 priorities, you’ll get closer to accomplishing your weekly goals.
When you knock out your weekly goals, you’ll knock out your monthly goals.
Step 4 - Write what you learn every day (Multiple times each day)
This is a bonus thing I learned over this past week
If you don’t write everyday, you’ll have thoughts build up in your head
Those thoughts will eat away at your energy, memory, and bandwidth
You need to braindump your thoughts, ideas, and learning lessons everyday
Writing is therapy
I can’t stress this point enough
Writing is the key ingredient here to accomplishing your plan.
Step 5 - BONUS - Print your plan out on a sheet of paper and look at it everyday
Put your printed monthly plans on the bathroom mirror
You can even print your weekly plan and put it on the bathroom mirror
Look at both of them while you brush your teeth
You can even print it and tape it up across your house
You can take a screenshot and put it as your screensaver
A Harvard study shows that if you look at your plans everyday, you have a 90%+ chance of achieving them.
Planning For Success
Take this 5-step plan and run with it.
Let’s accomplish our goals.
We’re capable of sooooo much more!
That’s it for this week’s letter.
If you have a strategy for how you plan things out and accomplish your goals, hit that reply button, and let’s talk!
I’d love to hear other ideas.
In the meantime, I’ll be crunching on the ideas and strategy in this letter.
Hopefully, I’ll have some new insights over the upcoming week to share with you.
Enjoy your sunny weekend. ☀️
